Our vision for wine is –

To produce unique and distinctive wines reflecting site, soils, vines and the year of the vintage.

To pursue a natural and traditional winemaking philosophy in which grapes are picked at the optimum point of ripeness and balance, making the usual winery additions and aids completely unnecessary.

To reflect the whole grape: not just an arbitrary profile. When appropriate we make use of extended contact with the lees, extended maceration and the use of barrels as a maturation medium, not a flavour enhancer.

Our vision for customers is –

To ensure our regular customers always have priority access to our limited volume of wine and to build our business on repeat sales.

To enhance the wine sampling experience in our purpose built tasting facility. Materials used depict the region. Exterior walls are clad in metal with rammed earth features. Step inside and appreciate the local woods that panel the walls and ceiling. After sampling our wines, why not purchase a glass or bottle and linger on the patio. The views are breathtaking.

We have barbecue facilities and hold special functions for our valued customers. Small group functions are also encouraged – Organic food, of course.

Our vision for the environment is –

To go further than sustainability – We aim for continuous improvement in the health and fertility of our soils and vines.

To evaluate the appropriate environmental impact of all packaging etc. used for our wines.

To move away from heavy mechanisation and associated fuel use and revert to hand labour wherever practical.

To treat oak barrels with respect, not as a disposable commodity. We are moving towards the use of larger barrels to minimise oak extraction while retaining the unique maturation properties. With this in mind, we are currently sourcing larger oval barrels from German Oak, which have the capacity to last 100 years if cared for properly. They will be used for a specialty range of traditional white wines.

Our vision for employees is –

To hire staff committed to our vision and to minimise contract labour. We understand the importance of retaining each staff member’s individual knowledge of our estate and the benefits of providing permanent employment within our local community. Our staff are fundamental to the performance of our business and are valued more highly than a balance sheet could ever reflect.
